The luck of the Irish is coming to downtown on Saturday, March 11th for the St. Patrick's Parade, presented by St. Charles, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram. This parade has been a staple in this city for many years, and is always a fantastic way to get the community together. The day is filled with family-friendly Irish-themed activities that everyone, regardless of age, is sure to enjoy. You are not going to want to miss out on this exciting, annual St. Charles tradition.
Shamrockin' Along the Fox River 8K
Before you head down to the Opening Ceremony, lace up your running shoes and dash over to Pottawatomie Park for the Shamrockin' Along the Fox River 8K. Starting at 9am, this chip-timed race will take runners north on the Fox River Trail and back, with views of the beautiful Fox River along the way. Opening Ceremony
Kicking-off all the festivities of the day is the Opening Ceremony, in partnership with McNally's Irish Pub & Kitchen. The Opening Ceremony will take place in the 1st Street Plaza at 11am. This is the perfect way to start the celebration of the day, as you'll get to enjoy an Irish Dance performance, and more festive entertainment.
Scavenger Hunt
Before the parade begins, you'll have an opportunity at a chance to win your very own "pot of gold"! Hosted on the Travel St. Charles App, there will be an interactive Scavenger Hunt listed under the "Challenges" tab. To join in on the fun, you'll have to find seven clovers that are placed at the businesses listed (one clover per business). Each clover has a unique code on it that you'll need to enter in the app under the business you find it at, in order to check it complete. Three winners will win a "pot-of-gold" valued at $100, and will be selected live on Monday March 13th on our Facebook page @STCAlliance, and will be notified via email. Be sure to hurry, as you'll only have the day of the parade to complete the Scavenger Hunt!
Parade
The moment we've all been waiting for: The St. Patrick's Parade! The parade steps off at Main Street and 6th Street at 2pm, and continues down Main Street to conclude at 4th Avenue. Be sure to get your spot on Main Street, because thousands of people will be lined up to get the best view of the action. This year, there are around 85 entries in this parade for you to admire! From Celtic Pipe & Drum Bands, to elaborate and colorful floats, you'll be able to soak in everything this long-lasting St. Charles tradition has to offer.
Lucky Photo Station
You've thrown on your Irish-best to come downtown, so why don't you show your style off at our Lucky Photo Station? Starting on the day of the parade through March 17th, you'll be able to snap a photo in order to capture your wonderful time at this year's parade. The Lucky Photo Station will be located across from Pollyanna Brewing Company at Riverside Avenue and Illinois Street.
