Q. Where can I stay in St. Charles?

A. First things first - if you're planning on staying in this city for more than a day, you're going to need a place stay! Fortunately, St. Charles is home to plenty of top-notch accommodations to choose from. If you want to stay in the heart of downtown, Hotel Baker is a great choice, offering elegant guest rooms and suites, first-class amenities, and a scenic riverside setting. If you'd like to stay a little bit away from the downtown area, there are nine fantastic hotels between both sides of the river where you can enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation.


Q. What's the weather like during Spring?

A. Spring in this town is beautiful - the weather is is getting warmer, the parks start livening up with activity, and the sun begins to shine more and more. However, this is Illinois, and at times, the weather can be a tad bit unpredictable. In April, the weather typically stay in the 50's, with it being a little bit warmer in May. We recommend making sure you bring a light jacket or two, especially if it's a little windy during your stay. Although, it wouldn't be too big of a surprise if you end up leaving it in your guest room back at the hotel.


Q. Why is Spring a good time to visit St. Charles?

While there is never a bad time to visit, coming to St. Charles in the Spring is extra special because of all the beautiful blooms that you can find throughout town. There are an array of parks and natural areas where you can go and admire these colorful flowers. Mt. St. Mary Park can be especially pretty this time of year, as you'll find blooming plants alongside remarkable statues situated throughout the park. You can plan out a whole afternoon strolling the path, admiring the flowers and the works of art.



Q. What do people do for fun in the Spring?

Aside from admiring the Spring blooms, this season in St. Charles is bustling with things to do. With the weather finally starting to warm up, people are itching to catch some sunlight and emerge outdoors. There are both regional and local trails that you'll find all over, and the wonderful Fox River Trail that offers terrific views of the water. If a ride is what your after, you can rent a bike from Sammy's Bikes to help you explore the trails.


In the event that the weather is not cooperating, there's no reason to worry. There is still tons of fun to be had in St. Charles while staying inside! For some family activities that everyone will enjoy, try a little friendly competition at St. Charles Bowl. St. Charles Bowl has been in town since 1961, and features 24 lanes, billiards, arcade games, and a bar and grill! If shopping is more of what you're after, you can spend an entire day visiting all the local businesses in town, finding new clothes, home décor, antiques, and more, all in time for summer!

Regardless of the season, there is always an exceptional culinary scene in this city featuring restaurants serving many different styles and cuisines. From family-friendly options to award-winning eateries, there is certainly something for everyone to indulge in. If your trip is a little later in the Spring, you can even take advantage of one of the many outdoor patios that you'll find throughout town.


It also isn't uncommon to stumble upon live music , too, as many establishments will frequently host musical performances throughout the year. Many theatres in town will also host live music performances, like the Moonlight Theatre and the historic Arcada Theatre, and if it's the performing arts you're looking for, there are great theatres like Steel Beam Theatre and Marquee Youth Stage that can offer you just that, as well.


Q. What community events take place in the Spring?

A. Yes! If you decide that you want to take a trip to St. Charles in the Spring, there will be community events taking place. If you love to shop, then you're in luck. On Saturday, April 13th and Sunday April 14th is the St. Charles Spring Shop Crawl, featuring great deals from 16 amazing local shops that we have in town. You'll find art in a variety of mediums like clay/ceramics, digital art, glass, jewelry, and more, all available for purchase.
