Breakout the grills, cool beverages and get ready for a blast for the Fourth of July in St. Charles! On the Fourth, St. Charles will be bringing their annual Firework Display at Pottawatomie Park back after it was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. With its return, get ready for an unforgettable display of fireworks! Before the ceremony, come hangout in St. Charles before you head to Pottawatomie!
Before we get into the article, the businesses hours may be affected due to the Fourth of July. Make sure to check the hours of the businesses before visiting.
Have a Toast to the Fourth!
Celebrate the celebration with some celebrations of your own! Why not grab a drink or two downtown at one of our wonderful bars, restaurants and breweries! All of them are within perfect walking distance to Pottawatomie and make it so you can grab a prime spot before the firework display. You could even do a fast run of the self-guided brewery tour by visiting the downtown breweries: Pollyanna Brewing Co., Alter Brewing Co., Broken Brix Homebrew Shop and D&G Brewing before heading over! Or work from the outside to downtown St. Charles by visiting Riverlands Brewing Co. or 93 Octane Brewing Co.
Keep Cool with a Frozen Treat or Beverage
While we aren’t 100% sure of the weather yet, we can always expect the Fourth to have a bit of heat to it. Grab some ice cream from our ice cream shops, frozen yogurt from Forever Yogurt or grab a smoothie from Arcedium Coffeehouse or Kava Diem. Or if you want to get something a little sweeter, get a cupcake or six from Smallcakes – A Cupcakery! Smallcakes will be open Saturday and offer Fourth of July cupcakes if you want to grab them before the big day! They will not be open Sunday.
Grab some treasure from the Kane County Flea Market
If you’re looking to burn some time before you come downtown for the fireworks, head over to the Kane County Flea Market at the Kane County Fairgrounds. Come explore and see if you can’t find a little treasure to take home with you!
Grill out or pack a picnic at Blue Goose Supermarket
Get all your cookout supplies or even throw a picnic together at Blue Goose Supermarket! You can find all your typical grilling needs: hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, chips, sodas, etc. or throw together a picnic with some of their delicious items in their deli. Find cookies, salads, and all manner of picnic necessities!
Park it at Pottawatomie
Before the festivities start, Pottawatomie’s fun activities will be open! Enjoy some mini golf at the Riverview Miniature Golf, spend the afternoon lounging and swimming at Swanson Pool or cruising down the river on a Paddlewheel Riverboat! There’s so much fun to be had at Pottawatomie before the celebration starts!
