Come down and stay for Scarecrow Fest!

What a summer! It’s been a blast being here in St. Charles – from visiting amazing events like the St. Charles Fine Art Show, STC Live! and the Kane County Fair, hanging out on the patios of our amazing restaurants and enjoying all the amazing things here, this summer has been one for the books! But we’re ready to look towards fall here in St. Charles – which will be celebrated at the family-friendly, fun and exciting Scarecrow Festival here in St. Charles! Get ready to delve into the highlight of fall in St. Charles and see why thousands of people have loved this event for 26 years.

What It’s All About

Now Scarecrow Festival gets its name from the huge number of decorated Scarecrows that visit our town for the weekend. Non-profits, businesses and organizations come to put their scarecrow making skills to the test to make the best looking one and win cash prizes! There are regular scarecrows made of straw, giant ones that loom over you and mechanical entries that move. It makes for quite the assortment, especially as they are spaced throughout our downtown so you can get some steps in as you visit. Once we get closer to the event, there will be many that’ll show where all the scarecrows will be at, as well as information on how to vote for your favorites.

Now the cool part is that many of the scarecrows will be outside our local businesses so you can check the scarecrows and the businesses out. Many of the businesses will have scarecrow-themed specials, deals or events to show how much our community loves this event! But it’s also a great opportunity to check out all our businesses and get some ice cream, visit our breweries, bars and restaurants and even get some shopping in – buy some candles or soaps at Magnolia Soap & Bath, find old favorites and new assortments of candy at Rocket Fizz or stop by Ghoulish Mortals to find some fun and creepy items for your Halloween collection.

Scarecrow Fest Activities

Once you’ve gotten seen the scarecrows and visited our businesses, there’s still some other fun activities to do! Head over to Lincoln Park to visit the Kids Zone, which will have lots of family-friendly activities, or see the pumpkin carver up there as well! You can also check out Riverside Avenue to go grab a Scarecrow in a Box, where you get the materials to make your own scarecrow, or check out the Photo Opportunity to grab a nice photo at Scarecrow Fest! You can also head to Pottawatomie Park to check out the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show to find amazing, handmade items.
