For those looking to get away for a weekend and explore the world of beer and wine, St. Charles is just the place for you to visit!

Day 1 

Stops

Pollyanna Brewing should be your first stop on your beer excursion. Offering over 20 different beers, their beers never disappoint and often brew styles others do not! When it comes to “something for everyone” Pollyanna brews it. Check out their Facebook page for live music performances or food truck visits on the weekends. 

Feel free to grab a menu from Flagship on the Fox restaurant which is right next door and order food to be delivered right to your table! Mac n cheese combos, burgers to an amazing array of hearty sandwiches! Sit outside and enjoy the Fox River, or if you end up visiting on a Saturday night, there's always live music to enjoy!

Time to check into your hotel.

Choices range from near — Hotel Baker is right downtown St. Charles and is a historic property built in 1929 with 47 boutique room — to just a bit farther — is Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, or Hilton Garden Inn, 1.3 miles away. Check in to your hotel, take a quick cat nap or shower to get ready for your evening adventures! 

 

Refreshed, you’re now ready for dinner.

 

Now that you’re all refreshed, there are breweries and restaurants you must experience. Alter Brewing + Kitchen is

St. Charles’ newest addition to the craft beer seen!  Alter features creative, delicious and drinkable beers for everyone. They have their Year Round, Seasonal, Barrel Aged and also Special Release beers. Spend the evening here, with a full kitchen including culinary delights for every palate, or just stop in to enjoy the views from the industrial “Container Bar” that looks out on the banks of the fox River.

Day 2 

Stops

Recently celebrating 1 year in St. Charles, Riverlands Brewing is just outside the downtown and is a must-see and must-taste brewery. Their sours are some of the best around and they feature an assorted menu of different styles of beer. Their taproom is spacious, industrial and boasting some board games if you would like to play some while you drink. Check out the website or Facebook page for food truck visits or live music performances. 

D and G Brewing which is a small local brewery located in a unique industrial area within walking distance from downtown. They are focused on true-to-style beers and brewing what we like. Go say hello to the owner Alex, and do a flight or taste one of the many new offerings that he has available daily! Play a game or 2 and make sure to check out one of their many special evenings when they have a food truck visiting!

 

Another brewery to visit is 93 Octane, located near the BP Gas Station on Route 38. This brewery stays true to their roots as they focus on beer that provides a road trip of flavor. Their selection continues to grow with their innovative names and flavors of beer that are open like a county road. Stouts, IPA’s and Pale Ales & Dark Ales are among the offerings of this unique brewery.

Pace

Diversity and quality are key qualities of all the Wine Exchange’s wines. Offering a selection of over 500 wines from all across the world, the Wine Exchange offers samplings of their wines that range for those looking for low-cost, high quality wine to top shelf selections. Plus they have a kitchen for some small dishes to go with the wine you select.

 

Vintage 53’s wine is best paired with live music, which they have most Fridays and Saturdays. Their selection features vintage red, white and rose wines that all can enjoy, as well as a food menu that features scrumptious bites such as flat breads and more!

100 Grapes is an intimate tasting room right downtown. The high quality of grapes speaks for themselves, so stop in for a tasting, flight, glass or a bottle of their unique wine.

Another great wine destination is Cooper’s Hawk, which features upscale dining and excellent, high quality wine at their full service bar. Plus with a wine show room where you can pick out bottles you try during your meal and wine accessories and you can go for some wine shopping and tasting!

Take our beer home with you

If you’ve ever wanted to make your own beer, Broken Brix Homebrew Shop has everything you could want to know about home fermentation. You can browse among brew-making kits, kegs, bottling equipment, and all the good stuff that goes into it, like grains, malt, yeast and hops.

 

Part tasting bar and part retail shop, this cozy store keeps customers coming for special beers of the day at 50 percent off, a craft beer of the month club, and 12 rotating taps plus a changing list of up to 30 new craft beers in the store each week.
